Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 12, 2026 · Applies to the Chrome extension DeskDrawer by E_The_Real (all versions unless noted).

1. Who we are

DeskDrawer is developed by E_The_Real as a personal / small-project browser toolbox. Contact for privacy questions: use the support / donation page linked from the extension listing, or the developer email shown on the Chrome Web Store listing.

2. What data the extension handles

Depending on which tools you use, DeskDrawer may process:

• Extension settings — UI preferences, video save options, YouTube helper toggles, filename templates, custom folder display name (not the raw folder path secrets).
• Per-site cleanup rules — CSS selectors / flags you chose when using Pick & Zap, soft overlay dim, unlock scroll, unlock copy/paste on a host.
• Page content (temporary, on-device) — when you click a tool, scripts may read the active tab’s DOM (for example: find overlays, list <video> elements, read visible Amazon product title/price/ASIN, build an HTML snapshot you asked to save).
• Recorded or downloaded media you requested — saved via Chrome Downloads and/or a folder you chose (File System Access). Files stay under your control on disk.
• Amazon local notes — price history / watch targets you set for products you opened; stored only in extension storage on your device.
• Job / notification state — e.g. “recording finished” status for the control room and optional desktop notifications.
• Keyboard shortcut configuration — managed by Chrome; DeskDrawer only reads assigned keys to display them.

DeskDrawer does not require you to create an account. It does not intentionally collect names, emails, passwords, payment cards, or precise location.

3. What is sent over the network

• By default, almost nothing. Core zap / unlock / record features do not upload your browsing history or page contents to our servers (there is no DeskDrawer cloud backend for this extension).
• SponsorBlock (optional): If you enable the YouTube SponsorBlock helper, the extension may request segment data from sponsor.ajay.app for the video you are watching (community-run service). Disable the option to stop those requests.
• Links you open: Keepa, CamelCamelCamel, PayPal donate, or other buttons open sites you choose in a normal browser tab. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
• Direct video/file URLs: If you start a download of a media URL already present on a page, Chrome fetches that URL from the site that hosts it—not through a DeskDrawer proxy.
• Google Docs mobilebasic assist: “Unlock copy/paste” may navigate a Google Doc you already have open to the document’s /mobilebasic view on docs.google.com so text is easier to select. That navigation stays between your browser and Google; DeskDrawer does not receive the document content on a server.

4. How data is stored

• chrome.storage (local / sync as configured by Chrome for the extension) for settings and notes.
• Optional IndexedDB handle for a user-selected save folder (File System Access).
• Files you save appear in your Downloads folder or the custom folder you picked.

Uninstalling the extension removes extension storage. Files already saved to disk remain until you delete them.

5. Permissions (why they exist)

• storage — remember your settings and local notes.
• activeTab / scripting — run tools on the tab you are using when you invoke DeskDrawer.
• tabs — find/focus the right tab, open helper links you click.
• downloads / offscreen — save media you requested; write to a chosen folder when needed.
• notifications — optional “recording done” / price-target notices.
• contextMenus — right-click shortcuts to the same tools.
• Host access (YouTube / Amazon / optional all sites) — only for features on those pages or when you grant broader access for remembered cleanup rules.

6. Children

DeskDrawer may be used with parental guidance (kid-friendly tips in the UI). It is not directed at children under 13 as a service that collects personal information. Parents should supervise downloads and web use.

7. Third parties

We do not sell or rent personal information. Optional third-party services you may touch by using a feature or clicking a link include SponsorBlock, Amazon (pages you visit), YouTube (pages you visit), Keepa, CamelCamelCamel, and PayPal (donations). Their policies apply to their services.

8. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

Use of information received by DeskDrawer is limited to providing or improving the extension’s disclosed single purpose (local page cleanup tools and saving/noting media or product info the user is already viewing). Practices are intended to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. DeskDrawer does not use user data for personalized advertising.

9. Your choices

• Turn off YouTube helpers / SponsorBlock in Settings.
• Clear site rules from the popup rules list.
• Revoke optional “all sites” host access in Chrome’s extension details.
• Uninstall the extension to remove its stored preferences.
• Delete saved files from your computer’s folders.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when features change. The effective date at the top will be revised. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy for that version of the extension.
